Your Books Don’t Have to Be a Mystery

Most small business owners started their business to pursue a passion or offer a service they believe in. They didn’t get into it for the spreadsheets. But as the business grows—or as tax time rolls around—they realize that tracking income and expenses isn’t optional. It’s essential.

This is more common than you might think. If it’s happened to you, you’re not alone!

I’ve worked with plenty of business owners who aren’t sure how their business is doing financially. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard “I love what I do, but the bookkeeping drives me nuts.”

I started Mindful Tally to help small business owners get a better handle on their finances. Before launching the business, I spent nearly two decades in the accounting field. I completed a digital bookkeeper certification, revisited advanced accounting courses, became a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and read more books and articles than I can count—all to become the best possible resource for my future clients.

As a small business owner, you should be able to do what you love without feeling overwhelmed by the numbers. You shouldn’t need to go back to school or earn a bookkeeping certification just to run your business well. What you need is a reliable partner—someone who’s already put in the time to learn bookkeeping, and actually chose the part you’d rather avoid as their profession.

If your books feel like a mystery right now, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I’ll be using this space to share what I’ve learned, in a way that’s clear, practical, and easy to apply. My goal is to help you feel more confident about the financial side of your business. I’m glad you’re here.
